Hate to Break it To You, But I Need a Digital Wardrobe Detox.

Decluttering your closets, shopping carts, and saved wishlists.

I’ve been saying it for months: I need to clear out my closet. Not just a little tidy-up, I mean a full, start-from-scratch, new-wardrobe energy kind of purge. You know when you look at your clothes and realize half of them don’t fit your style, your life, or… you? Yeah. That.
Don’t forget about the endless online returns just sitting there taking up so much space, and on top of that, I’m moving soon. Which has this magical way of making me want to throw everything away. Like, why does relocating suddenly make me want to live with three outfits and one.. maybe two chic tote bag?(Someone explain because, TRUST a bitch loves to shop).
Moving is the ultimate truth-teller. Packing up clothes forces you to touch every single thing you own, and suddenly you realize:
  • You’ve been keeping jeans “just in case” for five years.
  • That random matching set you swore you’d wear? Still has the tags.
  • You own enough “comfy” sweaters to dress a small mountain village.
This time, I’m not just decluttering, I’m curating. I want my closet to feel like a boutique I’d be excited to shop in again. I miss getting excited to get dressed, even to run errands, go out with friends, or just feeling cute for myself without trying on a million things. And somehow always resorting to my, “Go to” because.. even that option is getting boringggg and unflattering.

Sneaky part of why its becoming overwhelming. We always talk about purging our physical closets, but in 2025, so much of our “wardrobe” lives in digital form: online shopping carts, saved Instagram ads, Pinterest boards, luxury resale watchlists, and even AR try-on apps. These digital piles can be just as overwhelming as the actual clothes on your floor. I have made myself commit to completely going through my closet and purge anything and everything I am not into- hopefully wont let myself talk myself into keeping too many pieces that “could potentially” be cute down the road AND then if I want to re vist some wishlist items..... I can in moderation... Sooooo here is what I am trying to start to rebuild for myself to keep it simple and classic with the basics. But dont get me wrong I still love colors & patterns, but with how much shit I have that I hate I need to start from the ground up, well, at least try to! I really learned that I prefer just very simple basics that are elevated with wither the texture, accents, and different cuts. I want a higher quality closet over mass cheapness.

Tops
- 2 Crisp White Tees: One fitted, one slightly oversized.
- 2 Elevated Tanks: Neutral tone, and a fun pop of color, great for layering.
- 1 Striped Long Sleeve: Adds subtle pattern without trendiness. Also love a soft ribbed material.
- 1 Silk or Satin Blouse: For dinners, events, or dress-up days.
Cozy Tops
- 2 Oversized Sweaters: Neutral tone, slouchy but luxe and still cute.
- 1 Lightweight Knit Hoodie: More refined than a classic sweatshirt.

Bottoms
- 1 Pair Tailored Trousers: Black or beige.(and a fun color)
- 2 Pair Straight-Leg Jeans: Mid or high-rise, medium wash.
- 1 Pair Dressier Pants: Wide-leg or a sexy flattering fabric for evening wear.
- 1 Matching Sweat Shorts: For warmer lounging days.
- 2 Matching Sweat long pants set: Won’t let my comfort go for cozy days.

Layers
- 1 Tailored Blazer: Black, grey, or honestly any color thats toned down for a more polished look.
- 2 Lightweight sweaters: Neutral, soft, drapey.
- 3 Statement Outerwear Piece: Could be a trench, leather jacket, or oversized coat. I love jackets too much to realistically cut that down.
- 1 Sweater Dress: Any shape or length for when I truly don’t know what to wear but still look put together.

Shoes
- I am keeping all of them, Sorry! I fucking love them all currently and honestly want more.

So I guess in a way, this is me reliving my what not to wear binging days as the main character, but NOT with bad style! Just a fucking broad who loves to shop and is over the years of half of my clothes collecting dust & honeslty me not wanting to move, god knows how many boxes of clothes again. As well maybe be a way for me to reward the newer items I have been eyeing online that actually will be worn and perfect for my new style cravings that fit with who I feel I am now with my style(and to clear the bullshit sitting in the checkout cart).
