I Don’t Fuck With Alex Cooper!
Friday May 8 2026
She’s Not a Bad Interviewer, She’s a Mean Girl With a Microphone.
I also do think she sucks at interviewing.
I think she’s very good at a specific thing that doesn’t translate into good interviewing.
There’s a tone that runs through a lot of the interviews on Call Her Daddy and once you hear it, you can’t unhear it. It’s subtle, but it’s there. Slightly patronizing. Slightly performative. A little “I already know the answer, but go ahead.”
“I think its crazy to even hear you explain that”
“Wait… that’s crazy.”
“Okay, what!?” while looking at guest & then camera shot
“Be honest…” with a stupid smirk
It doesn’t feel like curiosity. It feels like positioning.
It’s not that any one phrase is annoying(?), everyone repeats themselves...
It’s that when you stack them episode after episode, it starts to feel like:
✰A formula
✰A tone you can predict
✰A conversation that’s being guided vs organically
Every interview hits a similar rhythm:
✰ Set up the persona
✰ Tease a “vulnerable” moment
✰ Land the same kind of packaged takeaway
✰ Clip for TikTok
Aaannd that’s where my “bland and repetitive” argument stands, It’s efficient. It’s clean. It’s also… kind of numb.
& that’s where the “mean girl” energy creeps in, not in an obvious, high school Bitch way, but in that polished, socially aware way where everything sounds supportive, but there’s an underlying hierarchy to the conversation. Like she’s not with the guest, she’s managing them.
A little too controlled. A little too aware. A little too comfortable pushing for moments that don’t always feel natural.
At a certain point, calling yourself a “girls’ girl” doesn’t mean much if the pattern doesn’t back it up. And with Alex Cooper, the pattern feels inconsistent & more celebrity-facing than community-driven, more try hard than genuine.
Lowkey, Blake Lively vibes, they seem like they’d have a dandy time sitting down together.. lol
I know, I know. We’re supposed to preface every opinion about another woman with a soft disclaimer and a TED Talk on solidarity.
I’m not doing that here.
With Alex Cooper, I’m very comfortable admitting If that makes me not a “girls’ girl” in this situation, fine.
I’d rather be honest than fake about it.
Because forced support is just another version of performance and I’m not really interested in playing that role.
You can respect the business. You can acknowledge the success. And you can still look at the pattern(s) and still decide it’s not something you want to align with!
What used to feel chaotic and unfiltered now feels templated. You can almost hear the beats before they happen.
At a certain point, the shock factor turns into background noise.
The questions don’t feel bold - they feel expected.
The reactions don’t feel real - they feel queued.
Just… bland.
Which is kind of ironic, considering the entire brand was built on not being that.
So YEAH, I Don’t Fuck With it!
There was a time when Call Her Daddy felt like you accidentally clicked into a group chat you were not supposed to be in but couldn’t pull away..
Like… borderline illegal to be listening, but you stayed anyway!
It was chaotic. Slightly unhinged. Sometimes too much. But in the best wat & at least it felt real!
Now it feels like a brand deck & snooze fest...
Still a very successful, very well-oiled, perfectly packaged content machine… but still the same conversation on repeat.
It feels like watching someone host a party where every conversation is already pre-planned.
And at that point, I’d rather just leave... even without a drink!
✰If You’re Also Over It, Start Here:
Sofia with an F- No need to explain.
So true with Caleb Hearon- Unhinged but sharp. It feels like sitting in on a conversation that spirals in the funniest, most unexpectedly insightful way.
Emergency Intercom- Internet brain rot, but elevated. It makes no sense and all the sense at the same time. Very chaotic, very niche and belly laughs.
Good Hang with Amy Poehler- Actually conversational. Warm, funny, & not trying too hard to manufacture moments. It feels like people who know how to talk and listen, without turning it into a performance...
Better Half- Feels like girl talk in its natural habitat, light, funny, a little chaotic, and the kind of conversation you’d want to be sitting in on with a drink.
Basically Unfiltered- Exactly what it sounds like, loose, chatty, & not overly curated. Feels more like catching up with people than consuming content, which is kind of the whole point.
